In 1996 GBA-Corona in Houston were contacted by Petromarine to
tender for the HP/LP flare tip for the Shell Bullwinkle platform
to be located in the Gulf of Mexico. GBA-Corona selected a
CSF-9-8 HP flare tip and a PF-10 LP flare. The LP tip, although
remaining separate from the HP was located within the windshield
of the HP tip thus enabling the overall footprint to be minimised.
The tip is designed for a capacity of 300MMSCFD but commonly runs
at purge & minor leakage rates, 0-5MMSCFD.
GBA Corona won the contract and the tip was duly supplied and fitted
in Mid-1997.
Since that time the tip has been in continuous service and was
most recently inspected in summer 2002. The tip was found to be
in almost perfect condition and the operator had no hesitation in
leaving the flare tip in service for a further period. These pictures
show the history of this tip. |
