In May 2001 Kvaerner Process Nederlands on behalf of Atofina contracted with GBA for the design, supply and site erection of a 121m high, 30" diameter derrick supported smokeless, low noise steam flare with integral water seal drum.

The site was the existing Fina chemicals plant and the flare was to be built in a very restricted area close to the existing smaller flare and within an operating plant.

The flare was fabricated during 2001 at our works in Parma, Italy. It was shipped to ship in December 2001, it was erected by our own team in January/February 2002 and was in service by October 2002.
